We’re a little less than 48 hours removed from my procedure, and I’m finally starting to feel normal-ish. Yay.
Another year, another disaster for Chicago Bears fans who were trying to get tickets for training camp practices:Kicked off @Ticketmaster for "unusual browsing behavior" just as I was about to be up in the queue…WTF is unusual about trying to get a few @ChicagoBears camp dates? pic.twitter.com/jLKpF1vydF

— DaWindyCity Productions (@dwcprodz) July 8, 2026 My experience was much like the ones shown above. I went from 300-something people in front of me in the queue … to 100-something people in front of me … to getting the “it’s your turn” message … only to be stuck there for 3-5 minutes before getting the “Tickets are sold out now. Check back soon.” message. It felt pretty gross. Also, why would you tell me to “check back soon” for an event that is sold out? That bit of nonsense is insulting.THE BN BEARS PODCAST: Apple | Spotify | YouTube
As expected, tickets sold out. The Bears are the hottest thing going in town right now, so that isn’t a surprise. However, the other thing that was expected to happen (that also happened) is that bots were out in full force at Ticketmaster. As someone who fought in The Great Ticketmaster Wars for Taylor Swift Eras Tour tickets, this battle isn’t new to me. But that it continues to get worse for fans isn’t something I’m going to be quiet about. And while I’m not sure what we, as fans, can do to change things, I hope that the squeaky wheel gets the oil and our collective noise will help usher in change for the better. At a minimum, I hope fans can push across a message to the powers that be that staying the course with Ticketmaster without making necessary changes is unacceptable. Unfortunately, I do not think that taking training camp back to Bourbonnais is in the cards. Because even though that would be a logical solution to the problem, gearing up for the season ahead at Halas Hall (especially now that it has been renovated and modernized) makes too much sense. There would be no logic in moving away from that set-up. With that being said, I still maintain that — if the Bears build a new stadium project in Arlington Heights (and that’s a pretty big “if” considering the lack of progress on the Bears stadium front) — training camp practices should be held in that big new facility. This probably deserves a more lengthy discussion in a separate post, so I’ll leave it at that to move onto the rest of this set of Bullets. Bears quarterback Caleb Williams (18) runs on the field during Minicamp at Halas Hall. Mandatory Credit: Kamil Krzaczynski-Imagn Images In predicting that the Vikings will win the NFC North, ESPN’s Benjamin Solak cites Minnesota’s defense as a deciding factor and unearths my least-favorite fact about Chicago’s football team (the bold emphasis is mine, by the way) in his case:The Packers won’t have edge rusher Micah Parsons for the first half of the season and lost defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley to the Dolphins. The Bears’ defense was first in EPA on takeaways and 30th in EPA on all other plays — it’s unlikely they run that pure in turnover luck once again. The Lions had solid defensive metrics last season but have undergone enormous turnover in the secondary. Amik Robertson left in free agency, Terrion Arnold was released following his arrest in Florida, and safeties Brian Branch and Kerby Joseph are not expected to be healthy to start the season. For a team that likes to play man coverage, that’s especially worrisome.
I was rooting hard for somebody (anybody!) to hire Vikings Defensive Coordinator Brian Flores away from Minnesota this offseason when he was a free agent. Instead, Flores returns to continue his reign of terror in The Land Of A Thousand Lakes. Perhaps next offseason, someone will come to their senses and hire Flores as their head coach. Our countdown to Week 1 continues with a Bears fun fact about a little-used uniform number:We are 6⃣6⃣ days from the Bears kicking off the 2026 regular season vs. the Panthers. Only two players have worn No. 66 for #DaBears in their franchise history: ? John Schiechi (1945-46) ? Bulldog Turner (1940-52)[image or embed]
— Bleacher Nation Bears (@bn-bears.bsky.social) July 9, 2026 at 7:19 AM Bulldog Turner has quite the résumé. A member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s class of 1966, Turner was a four-time Pro Bowler, seven-time first-team All-Pro, and four-time NFL champion. A member of the Hall of Fame’s All-1940s Team, Turner is listed as playing center, tackle, linebacker, and guard. They certainly don’t make ’em like him anymore.FOLLOW BN BEARS ON SOCIAL MEDIA: Facebook | Twitter | BlueSky
The Chicago Cubs played long ball again (and again … and again … and again … and again) in their Wednesday win against the Baltimore Orioles. Camden Yards ranks somewhere in the top-3 of ballparks I want to visit. So it irks me that the Cubs are banging out dingers during a visit to Baltimore at a time I couldn’t swing a trip. Maybe I’ll make it happen in 2028 (the O’s are scheduled to visit Wrigley in 2027). Over at BN Bulls, Tiago Splitter shares how he plans to use the Summer League to establish a tone for his young team. It sounds like first-round picks Caleb Wilson and Dailyn Swain will be pushed hard. Bears fans saw what it looked like when a coach pushed his young players hard, so I hope (for Bulls fans) that something similar happens here. THIS AIN’T GOOD: Chicago Blackhawks star Connor Bedard is expected to miss four months after surgery to repair a shoulder injury. That puts Bedard’s projected return somewhere in mid-November.
