A teenage boy died after he was airlifted from a “serious” crash in McHenry County over the weekend, authorities said on Wednesday.
Around 7:35 p.m. on Sunday, authorities responded to the intersection of Illinois Routes 173 and 12 in Richmond for a “serious vehicle crash,” officials said.
When they arrived, officers found a Toyota sedan and Nissan SUV with heavy damage in the intersection. The driver of the sedan, later identified as 18-year-old John Ethan Regan-Langrick of Spring Grove, was critically injured in the collision and airlifted by a medical helicopter to a hospital in Libertyville for care, authorities said.
Regan-Langrick was pronounced dead in the ICU from the injuries he sustained in the crash on Monday, the McHenry County Coroner’s Office said.
The crash remains under investigation, authorities said.
