Steven Moffat says he’d revisit Sherlock if he can "persuade everybody else" ...Middle East

News by : (Radio Times) -

Speaking with the Half the Picture podcast, Moffat was asked about his experience of running both Doctor Who and Sherlock at the same time, which he called "extraordinary".

"I went from a normal television life to being the guy, or one of the guys in charge of Doctor Who, and one of the guys in charge of Sherlock, going, 'What the hell happened there?' It was like being hit by a very nice bus.

"It was a maniac time. I never ever stopped working, or stopped worrying, or stopped fretting. I loved that show. I look at it now and I watch it, and I think all of it is excellent. I just think it’s really, really well made, beautifully acted, dare I say it, beautifully written show. I think it's cracking. And I’m massively, massively proud of it. And I miss it. I do miss it."

"Of course I'd revisit it, yeah," he continued. "What can you ever say, that you’ve run out of Sherlock Holmes stories? There are 60 originals. We’ve done, what is it, 13 or 14? I can never remember.

"We were conscious that we were doing the beginning of the story, consciously doing younger ones. So I’d quite like to see them as their more middle-aged, settled versions."

Sherlock ran for 13 episodes and starred Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman as Holmes and Watson, as well as Andrew Scott as James Moriarty.

Meanwhile, Moffat's co-creator on the series, Mark Gatiss, previously revealed that he believes the best episode of the series was written by Moffat - A Scandal in Belgravia.

"You know, Sherlock still disguises himself as a clergyman, he has to create an emergency in the house, Irene Adler beats him - literally - things like that," Gatiss explained.
