The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) forecasts a drop in temperatures across the country from Tuesday, July 7th to Saturday, July 11th, following an intense heatwave.
The EMA cautioned that this temperature decrease does not mean the heat will subside – high humidity levels will continue to increase the perceived temperature by one to three degrees.
It urged citizens to avoid direct sun exposure during peak hours, drink plenty of water, and regularly monitor the weather forecasts.
Monday’s weather will be slightly hot and humid at night and early morning, becoming hot and humid during the day across most of the country. The heat will be particularly intense in Upper Egypt.
Temperatures in Greater Cairo and the Lower Egypt will range between 34-35C during the week, while the North Coast will see temperatures between 29-31C.
In Upper Egypt, temperatures will range between 36-37C, reaching 40C by the end of the week, after starting with 44C.
The EMA indicated the formation of mist between four to eight an on some roads leading to and from northern Egypt, including Greater Cairo, the Suez Canal cities, central Sinai, and northern Upper Egypt.
Drivers are advised to exercise caution during the early morning hours.
Weather maps also predict intermittent wind activity in several areas from Tuesday to Saturday, helping to slightly cool the weather.
