ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Widespread, heavier showers will likely stay in the Southern Tier this evening. The northern edge of this heavier precipitation may stretch up into southern Livingston and Ontario Counties as well as the southern Finger Lakes. Wyoming County will also continue to see scattered showers Sunday evening. Rochester will stay mostly dry, though a light passing shower is possible through the evening. Sunday night low temperatures will reach the mid-60s with mildly humid conditions. Expect mostly cloudy skies through the night with increasing chances for spotty showers after midnight.
Scattered showers and cooler temperatures will start off the workweek on Monday. Highs will only reach the upper-70s. Though Rochester is not expected to see a measurable amount of rain through Monday, expect scattered showers and a rumble of thunder from time to time. The heaviest precipitation will stay south of Monroe County and in the Finger Lakes due to the location of the low-pressure system’s center. These areas may see some heavier thundershowers with locally heavy downpours at times. No widespread flood threat is expected in our area, and the strong storm threat is low so we will remain green on the threat tracker through Monday.
Looking ahead: A few showers linger into Tuesday with partial clearing expected in the evening. Wednesday brings more sunshine than rain, but humidity starts to rise midweek. We are tracking our next significant thunder threat Thursday evening into Friday.
