High clouds are in Saturday evening’s forecast for San Diego County with clear viewing conditions for fireworks shows, followed by a substantial warming trend for next week.
“Conditions for firework viewing for coastal cities tonight will be quite favorable, as the marine layer will struggle to move back in early this evening, likely not filling in until closer to 10 p.m.-midnight,” the National Weather Service said. “Minor to moderate heat risk returns for the inland areas and deserts next week.”
In the desert, periodic gusty winds at or above 15 mph Saturday evening may impact things some, but winds should significantly weaken everywhere but the mountain passes and desert slopes by 9 p.m.
No precipitation is expected for fireworks viewing.
“Temperatures will warm ever so slowly through Monday while low level moisture hangs around, with more noticeable warming in the deserts,” the NWS said.
“By Tuesday … a more substantial warm-up is expected … The marine layer will become more shallow, allowing even the coastal valleys to warm.”
Temperatures were expected to peak Wednesday and Thursday, with highs around 80 degrees downtown, 86 in the inland valleys, 92 in the mountains and 110 in the deserts.
Forecasters said minor to moderate heat risk will be present in the deserts and inland areas through the end of the week.
“If you work outdoors, make sure to have plenty of water and take frequent breaks,” the NWS said.
A subtle cool-down is expected next weekend.
