ROCHESTER, N.Y. – After a long, active, and hot week of weather, we return to green on the Threat Tracker. The Severe Thunderstorm Warning that was in effect for Wayne, Ontario, and Yates Counties has been taken down as the strongest storms have moved downstate. There is still the chance for a passing shower as we head closer to the Independence Day firework festivities. However, any showers are expected to remain light and not bring any major disruptions to firework displays. Temperatures will remain in the low-70s for the evening hours, before dropping into the upper-60s overnight. Winds will remain light out of the northeast between 5 to 10 mph. Dew points hover in the low to mid 60s, so overnight will be a little humid. However, this is a large improvement from the past week.

Sunday is a considerable improvement from July 4th’s weather. An isolated shower is possible, and clouds will linger most of the day. However, no strong storms are expected, and the majority of the region will remain dry. High temperatures on Sunday are expected to reach near 80 degrees. Winds may be a bit breezy at times out of the northeast between 10 and 15 mph. Only a 20% chance of rain remains for Sunday, before increasing Sunday night.

As a low-pressure system moves south of western New York, rain will move back into Rochester starting Monday. We will remain green on the Threat Tracker as disruptive weather chances remain low. Monday will start off the week much cooler in the upper-70s with low humidity.
