For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Sectionals finalist Jack Rodenkirch has announced his verbal commitment to swim for the University of Southern California beginning in the fall of 2027.
“I am proud to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and swimming career at the University of Southern California! I want to thank my parents and family for their endless support and belief in me. I’d also like to give a big thanks to Coach Justin for helping me reach this level over the past year. I am incredibly grateful to all of my coaches, teammates, and friends throughout my life who have supported me in every step. Finally, a huge thank you to Coach Lea and the entire USC coaching staff for this amazing opportunity. FIGHT ON!”
A California native, Rodenkirch is a rising senior at Peninsula High School, where he has been a member of the school’s varsity swimming and diving team since his freshman year. He also trains year-round with Beach Cities Alpha and primarily specializes in free and fly.
Rodenkirch posted a series of top performances at the 2025 GWSC Winter Age Group Invitational in December, logging personal best times in all five of his events. He prevailed in the 50 free (20.88) and 100 free (45.72) and was the runner-up in the 100 back (52.72) and 50 fly (23.29). He also took 4th in the 100 fly (51.71).
A few months later, Rodenkirch turned in a strong showing at the 2026 Oceanside Sectionals. He placed 7th in the 50 fly (22.53), 13th in the 100 free (45.68), 20th in the 50 free (21.36) and 41st in the 100 fly (50.98 – PB). He also set a new lifetime best in the 100 back (51.97) and 200 free (1:42.85) as the leadoff on the 400 medley relay and the 800 free relay, respectively.
Rodenkirch continued to improve his times throughout the remainder of the season, clocking a handful of lifetime best performances at the 2026 CIF (California Interscholastic Federation) Southern Section Division II Championship in May. He won the 50 free (20.23 – PB) and 100 free (44.50) after setting a personal best time of 44.33 during the preliminary heats of the 100 free. Just two weeks later, he lowered his time in the 50 free even further, throwing down a time of 20.12 at the CIF State Championship before taking 5th overall in 20.29.

50 free – 20.12 100 free – 44.33 200 free – 1:40.00 100 fly – 50.98A Division I program in the Big Ten Conference, USC placed 7th at this past season’s conference championships before sending six athletes to compete at the NCAA Division I Men’s Championship, where they finished 14th overall.
Based on the results from the 2026 Big Ten Conference Championships, Rodenkirch would have landed in the ‘C’ final in the 50 free, giving him a chance to score some points early on. On the team itself, he would have ranked 3rd in the 50 free and 8th in the 100 free this past season. With another full season to go before Rodenkirch joins the team, it remains to be seen exactly how the roster will shake out.
Rodenkirch is currently the only confirmed recruit committed to join USC’s class of 2031 on the men’s side.
