ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Home prices in Monroe County hit a record high, according to data from the New York State Association of Realtors.
The median home price in Monroe County has climbed to over 300,000. Data shows the median sales price jumped nearly 8% from last year, even as closed sales dropped by more than 17%.
New listings remained steady compared to May of last year, but the county continues to face a tight seller’s market.
Earlier this month, News10NBC’s Deanna Dewberry reported on a new analysis that ranked Rochester as the toughest homebuying market in the country.
The financial services company analyzed the 100 largest housing markets in the country. Six of the top 10 toughest markets for homebuyers are in the Northeast, with Rochester taking the number one spot.
