Earlier this week, a flashback took us to Theo Silverton's (James Cartwright) final night. Sarah had left Carla and Lisa Connor-Swain's (Alison King and Vicky Myers) wedding, concerned about best pal Todd Grimshaw's (Gareth Pierce) wellbeing.
Climbing out onto the scaffolding, Sarah was spooked to find Theo. He implied that he'd done something to Todd, and branded her a "whore" for having two children by two different fathers.
He then remembered that she'd once had a child with Todd, who was born prematurely and died in 2004. Theo outright claimed that Sarah was still hoping to reconnect with his husband, and that her behaviour was pathetic.
She summoned ex-boyfriend Gary Windass (Mikey North), and in a bid to protect her, he ordered her off to the Platt residence to get an alibi. Of course – as we know – when she got to No. 8, Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances Brown) whacked her around the head with an ornament.
Since then, Gary's wife Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) has become convinced that he's having an affair with Sarah, blissfully unaware of the real, dark secret that they're keeping. Todd then confronted Sarah, suspecting that she knew that Gary killed Theo and was covering for him.
Sarah's boyfriend DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) was eyeing Gary as his chief suspect, and when an altercation ensued between the men, Todd was forced to defuse the situation.
She realised that there was nowhere left to hide, and tried to justify her actions by recalling what Theo had said to her. Unfortunately, Todd was appalled, and couldn't understand how she could be pushed to take someone's else.
Later, in the pub beer garden, Todd told Sarah that he was angry because she'd deprived him of the opportunity to prove to Theo that he could cope without him and rebuilt his life. However, he couldn't see her sent down, and had decided to keep quiet.
Surely this secret can't stay buried for long...
