2026 CA BCA Summer Sizzler
June 6-7, 2026 Torrance, CA LCM (50 meters) Results: “2026 BCA June LC Meet” on Meet MobileGabi Brito dominated the competition at the Beach Cities Alpha Summer Sizzler in early June to continue an already successful LCM campaign this season.
The 15-year-old, who swims for Beach Cities Alpha, won two individual events and posted a nationally ranked performance over the course of the weekend. She prevailed in the women’s 50 back, throwing down a season-best time of 29.19 to clinch the victory by over three seconds as she charged into the wall ahead of teammate Zoey Lewis (32.41).
Brito’s performance marks the 4th-fastest time in the country so far this season in the girls’ 15-16 age group and the quickest among 15-year-olds.
Brito’s time in the 50 back also tied her at 48th on the ranking of top times this season in the women’s open age group category, sharing the spot with Rachel Bockrath of The Ohio State University.
Brito holds a lifetime best time of 28.78 in the 50 back, which she set at the 2025 National Championships last summer.
In addition to her victory in the 50 back at the Summer Sizzler, Brito won the 200 back (2:21.26) and was the runner-up in the 100 breast (1:16.74), both of which were a few seconds off of her personal best times in those events.
Brito is off to a fast start this season, as she kicked off her long course campaign with a series of lifetime best performances at the NOVA Speedo Grand Challenge in May. Thanks to those swims, she holds the 2nd-fastest time this season in the 100 fly (59.05) and the 3rd-fastest time this season in both the 50 free (25.48) and 100 free (55.25).
Other Notable Performers
Ten-year-old Lauren Lucero won all six of her events, posting a lifetime best in all but one race. Lucero, who swims for Spartans of La Canada, prevailed in the 9-10 girls’ 100 free (1:08.45), 200 free (2:29.83), 50 back (37.09), 100 back (1:21.09), 100 breast (1:26.08) and 100 fly (1:17.51), clocking a personal best in each event except the 50 back. She has since lowered her times even further in the 100 free, 200 free and 100 breast. Fellow Spartans of La Canada athlete Chris O’Grady also turned in a series of top performances. The 23-year-old won the men’s 50 free (23.64 – PB), 50 breast (28.49 – PB), 100 breast (1:04.14) and 200 IM (2:08.61), with his performance in the 50 breast tying him at #69 on the ranking of top times this season in the men’s open age group category. Emme Weiss of Bay Club Aquatics delivered a series of strong performances, posting a personal best time in all six of her events. The 14-year-old took 3rd in the 13-14 girls’ 50 free (30.31), 4th in the 100 free (1:09.43), 200 free (2:32.58) and 50 fly (34.40) and 8th in the 50 back (38.15) and 50 breast (44.77). Rose Bowl Aquatics’ Olin Woo, 12, swept all of his races and clocked six new lifetime best times over the course of the weekend. Woo prevailed in the 11-12 boys’ 200 free (2:12.62), 50 back (33.67), 100 back (1:14.20), 50 breast (35.34), 50 fly (30.00) and 200 IM (2:26.60). Those times currently rank him 13th this season in the 200 IM, 28th in the 50 breast and 40th in the 50 fly for the boys’ 11-12 age group. Fifteen-year-old Sam Wang, who swims for Beach Cities Alpha, logged a series of personal best performances. He won the 15-16 boys’ 200 free (1:57.50 – PB) and took 2nd in the 100 free (53.92 – PB), 3rd in the 100 back (1:03.79 – PB) and 200 back (2:19.02), 6th in the 50 back (30.03 – PB) and 8th in the 50 free (25.32 – PB).
