“While the overall package is lighter than some of our recent updates, these developments are all part of our season-long development pathway, and we’re continuing to look for every lap time opportunity wherever we can.”

Weather could add another twist
As if evaluating a new aerodynamic concept was not enough, McLaren may also face an additional challenge this weekend, with wet weather remaining a possibility at Spielberg.
Houldey believes those conditions could create another important learning opportunity for the team.
“We are also preparing for the possibility of wet weather, which would be one of the first times running the car in those conditions this season,” he added.
“It presents a steep learning curve, especially with changes to energy management and power delivery in the wet, but it's an opportunity we will embrace to optimise every aspect of the car and maximise our performance, whatever the conditions.”
