NBC 5 Storm Team Meteorologist Kevin Jeanes captured footage of the animal on the side of roadway during rush hour. Jeanes reported traffic had slowed dramatically as the animal crossed the street and sat on the left shoulder of the inbound lanes.
When NBC Chicago reached out to Illinois State Police about whether a chicken was reported to be crossing the road, they answered with the best possible response.
“We will check the other side,” a spokesperson for the department said.
Ultimately, no calls surrounding the animal had come through Tuesday morning, however. The whereabouts and condition of the chicken remain unclear.
