It comes following yesterday's epic cliffhanger, which saw their former lodger Bea Pollard (Ronni Ancona) accuse him of trying to lure her into bed.
Back in April, Denzel Danes (Jaden Ladega) had crafted some software that would allow Patrick Trueman (Rudolph Walker) to reconnect with his son Anthony, and speak with him from beyond the grave.
Bea's interest was piqued, and headed home to find a similar program that could manipulate Billy's voice. Speaking into her phone, she asked the fake version to repeat a ridiculous sentence: "I am Billy Mitchell, and I am a prize sausage."
She crafted a dating profile for the market trader, and made a number of fake voice notes that supported her claims.
In today's episode, Honey and the Queen Vic regulars were stunned by Bea's admission. Billy protested his innocence, saying that he would never be unfaithful to his wife.
An argument ensued back at No. 18, though Honey couldn't come to a conclusion about what had happened. Phil promised to sort things for Billy, seeking to find evidence that would prove that the voice notes weren't actually him.
Bea, meanwhile, was delighting in the fact Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan) had found the dating profile, which helped to cement her claims. She quickly told the Albert Square gossip shop, Kim Fox (Tameka Empson), and the two headed to inform Honey.
Bea took great joy in seeing what was happening, and had even confessed to Billy that she'd set him up. But despite his protests, Honey just wasn't in a position to believe him.
Outside, Billy sobbed as he looked at his family home.
