JAVA, N.Y. — A 46-year-old man was found dead over the weekend after the boat he was in capsized on Java Lake.
Just before 7 p.m. on June 19, a 911 call came in reporting a capsized boat, deputies say. Two people were reported to have gone in the water, and only one was accounted for.
Deputies, along with multiple other agencies, were at the lake for nearly 12 hours looking for the other person, Robert Fuller.
At around 6 p.m. the next day, deputies say SONAR technology identified an object under water. It was recovered and found to be Fuller. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate, but deputies say current evidence suggests it was an accidental drowning.
