Brought to life by Secret Cinema, this interactive event sees guests transported back to Rydell High for an immersive version of the hit film, complete with rides, sets and plenty of performances.
In the press release, Wilson said he decided to take on the role because of a secret history with the musical: "At school I was in Grease and I feel I have to redeem myself. I was not yet the international pop sensation I am today and I only really wanted to do it cos I fancied the girl who played Frenchie (I was Doody) so this is my chance to show everyone I should have got a bigger part. I don’t believe anyone from that production is now a professional singer, so in short, I win.”
"It's not a serious film and it doesn't make any sense, I mean I'm in my late 40s now, and I think most of the cast were that age when they were in the film. But every generation seems to get into Grease. It still seems to capture the imagination of everyone, even now."
The singer added that, compared to being on stage with the Kaiser Chiefs, this kind of performance leaves much less room for error. "When you're with the band people love it when you mess up or fall over, but this is the one thing I have to get right every night."
Wilson in particular is known for interacting with the crowd throughout gigs, a skill which is sure to come in handy for this immersive experience.
The singer will be joined on stage by Stephanie Costi as Sandy, Giórgios Michaelídes as Danny, Lucy Penrose as Rizzo and Archangelo Ciulla as Kenickie.
The production opens at Evolution London in Battersea Park for a strictly limited run from 22 July to 13 September and tickets are available on the official website.
