ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A Rochester program that gives free meals to people in need hit a major milestone.
Wednesday marked six years of the Community Justice Initiative’s Feed the Village program. Volunteers gathered on Saint Paul Street near the Transit Center to hand out hot meals and fresh produce to Rochester’s homeless and needy.
One person getting a meal Wednesday said gestures like this make him feel hope for the community.
“When I see people like this doing something beneficial for the community, for the people in need, especially the homeless, that’s what’s up right there! I love that, because that’s a blessing,” Ronald Lee Dodd said.
Feed the Village takes place every two weeks on Wednesday. The Community Justice Initiative holds more regular events.
