Futures Championship qualifier Christian Perez has announced his verbal commitment to swim for New York University beginning in the fall of 2027.

A rising senior at The Bolles School in Jacksonville, the Florida native trains year-round with the Bolles School Sharks and primarily specializes in fly, free and IM.
Perez turned in a series of fast swims at the RAFC Winter Classic in December, winning three events and posting four new personal best times. He prevailed in the 500 free (4:36.36 – PB), 400 IM (3:58.32 – PB) and 200 fly (1:52.17 – SB) and was the runner-up in the 100 fly (49.82 – PB). He also contested the 200 fly (1:55.50 – SB) and logged a best time of 1:40.76 in the 200 free as the leadoff on the 800 free relay.
At the Florida Swimming Senior Championships in March, Perez logged another lifetime best performance. He placed 3rd in the 200 fly (1:52.05 – SB) and 6th in the 200 IM (1:52.78) after setting a personal best time of 1:52.12 during prelims. He also placed 9th in the 400 IM (3:58.97), 19th in the 500 free (4:40.24) and 20th in the 200 free (1:41.87).
Perez has qualified for the FHSAA (Florida High School Athletic Association) Class 1A State Championships two years in a row, beginning his sophomore year, with his top performance coming at the 2025 iteration in November. He placed 13th in the 100 free with a time of 46.94, just off of the lifetime best (46.76) that he clocked during prelims. He also helped Bolles to a runner-up finish in the 200 free relay and a 3rd-place finish in the 400 free relay, turning in splits of 21.92 and 47.12, respectively.
Perez’s top times in both the 200 fly still stands from the 2024-2025 season; he posted a time of 1:51.83 at the 2024 FAST High School Open Weekend #2.
At the 2025 Futures Championships (LCM) in Ocala last summer, Perez set a new lifetime best in all four of his events. He contested the 200 IM (2:12.75), 200 fly (2:12.05), 400 IM (4:44.40) and 100 fly (57.93).

The Violets were the runner-ups at both the UAA Conference Championships and the NCAA Division III Championships this past season. Based on the results from the 2026 UAA Conference Championships, Perez would have landed in the ‘B’ final in the 400 IM and the ‘C’ final in the 100 fly, 200 fly, 200 IM, 200 free and 500 free, giving him plenty of opportunities to score points for NYU.
The only men’s recruit committed to join Perez in NYU’s class of 2031 so far is Rhett Walker (breast/free), who should make for a strong training partner over their four years together.
