Farage, Lowe and Musk are the snarling trio who will destroy Britain ...Middle East

This was effectively an attempted pogrom. They went looking for ethnic minorities and they tried to burn them alive. Masked men marched down the streets of Belfast with weapons, kicking down front doors, looking for immigrants and setting cars on fire if they believed they were owned by foreigners. Children fled from their home as the mob set it alight.

The riots last night were inspired by social media posts about a Sudanese man who had stabbed a white man, but this is not an organic process. It is the ruthless, cynical exploitation of emotive events to trigger disorder, just like last week’s travesty over the murder of Henry Nowak.

Many front pages this morning dwell at length on the details of the attack and of the suspect’s immigration status. This focus on an admittedly brutal incident ends up supporting the narrative of the far right. It suggests that we are seeing a spate of attacks by asylum seekers, or ethnic minorities in general, against white people.

But, where was the coverage last Thursday when Chas Corrigan, a white man, was sentenced for the murder of Mohammed Algasim, a student from Saudi Arabia? This crime was just as horrific as what happened in Northern Ireland. Algasim was 20, studying English in the UK. He had his life in front of him. His parents loved him. Why was his stabbing not considered as newsworthy? Why did that not trigger posts on social media and protests in the street? Because the victim was brown and the attacker was white. That’s why. It does not fit the far right narrative. So no one ever hears about it.

When the crime does fit the narrative – as it did in this case – it is spread around the world. It is adopted by the most powerful and influential people in the world to provide the framework for a global racist movement.

The fascist thug Tommy Robinson – whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon – posted details of planned protest sites on X.com, the social media site owned by Elon Musk. Robinson had just returned from Moscow, where he met Musk’s father. Robinson’s post was then boosted by Elon himself, as part of his frenzied daily output on British politics.

The video of the attack was widely shared on X. Musk then messaged his 240 million followers: “Only by protesting REPEATEDLY and LOUDLY will there be any change!!” These were the protests which turned into last night’s riots.

In Poland, the video was seized on by extremist Polish MEP Dominik Tarczyński, who posted an image of the knife attack alongside one of Nowak in handcuffs. “Europe 2026 in two pictures,” he wrote. “Mass deportations NOW!” No figure in the US administration has commented yet on what happened in Belfast, but they likely soon will. Last week, following the death of Henry Nowak, US Vice President JD Vance said the Labour government lacked the “political will and leadership” to stop migration, while US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth spoke about an “invasion” of migrants.

In Britain itself, the far right message is spread by Reform UK leader Nigel Farage and Restore Britain leader Rupert Lowe. Farage did what he always does, helping to spread the disorder while trying to maintain plausible deniability. “What happened in Belfast last night is horrific,” he wrote today. “The authorities must reveal the identity and status of the attacker immediately. The public are entitled to the truth.” He’s a sneaky, cynical, grubby little man. He does nothing to calm tensions, but instead works diligently to worsen them.

Reform’s official policy is for a total visa ban for people from Sudan – a definitionally racist policy which associates the actions of one person with an entire group.

Lowe, Musk’s British puppet, went further, taking to X to repost Restore Britain’s policy about “third world savages” and then calling for mass deportations. He posted a picture of the attack with the words: “Millions must go.”

This has nothing to do with stopping crime. It is to do with a global far right movement, coordinated on X, organised by some of the most powerful men in the world, from Silicon Valley to the White House. It is then stoked by our domestic right-wing media. They might not support the far right itself, but they embrace its narrative and help spread its message into the mainstream. Far right activity was once organised in a clandestine way on the Telegram private messaging app. It is now organised out in the open on X.

The UK Government will this morning condemn the violence, but the basic reality is that it has utterly failed to grasp the threat of the far right since it reared its head with the Southport riots in 2024. It was clear at this point that we were facing a new threat, organised through Musk’s website, with unprecedented money and global influence.

Little has been done to challenge it, because to do so would involve accepting that this movement is intimately connected to Reform, the right-wing press and the White House – figures Downing Street seeks to placate rather than challenge.

It is not enough to simply condemn the violence. This is a battle of ideas in which mainstream, decent voices have become mute. We need a government which will not just condemn Restore but actively celebrate British diversity, multiculturalism and – yes – immigration. We need leaders who recognise that these people are just the latest incarnation of the jackboot thug throughout history, the vicious, snarling men you find in each era who hate difference and beauty.

They must be defeated by each generation in turn. But we can only do so with a government which understands the severity of the moment it operates in. Until it does, this will keep on happening.
