Governors Ball has hosted some of the world’s biggest acts over the past 16 years, as well as some up-and-comers who’ve risen to new levels of fame thanks to their slots on the festival’s stages. On Monday morning (June 8), Live Nation Studios and Governors Ball announced a first-of-its-kind partnership that will have the winner of the upcoming 30th season of NBC’s The Voice performing on the main stage of next year’s Gov Ball.
“Live Nation Studios helps artists tell their stories from beginning to end,” said Ryan Kroft, head of film & television for Live Nation Studios in a statement. “Partnering with The Voice and The Governors Ball creates a meaningful opportunity for an emerging artist to take the first step in telling their story through a live performance in front of a global audience.”
The partnership will allow the as-yet-unknown season 30 winner to take the stage in front of tens of thousands of fans at the event, whose 16th edition took place over the weekend at Flushing Meadows Corona Park in New York, with sets from Lorde, Baby Keem, KATSEYE, Stray Kids, Kali Uchis, Wet Leg, A$AP Rocky, Jennie, Geese and many more.
“The Governors Ball has always been about celebrating both established stars and the next generation of artists,” said Tom Russell, festival director for C3 Presents and Governors Ball co-founder. “Partnering with Live Nation Studios and The Voice allows us to give a remarkable new talent the opportunity to perform on one of music’s biggest, most diverse stages and connect directly with fans in a live festival environment.”
Audrey Morrissey, executive producer and showrunner of The Voice added, “At its core, The Voice has always been about shining a light on undiscovered talent, giving rising artists a platform to showcase their vocal prowess and develop their stage presence. Joining forces with Live Nation Studios and Governors Ball allows us a unique opportunity to take this exposure to the next level for our Voice champion.”
