ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Cancer survivors came together with loved ones to celebrate life, resilience, and hope on Sunday.
The C.U.R.E. Childhood Cancer Association hosted its annual Survivors’ Day Picnic and brought more than 300 survivors and family members together. There were different activities for kids to enjoy at Genesee Valley Park, including airbrushed tattoos and balloon animals.
The event served as a reminder that no family faces childhood cancer alone.
“We’ve been providing loving support to our community for nearly or over five decades because of the love of the community. You know, you’re going to take a walk around here and see how many people are supporting the cause and just wanting to make the day special for our families, and we couldn’t do that without friends in the community. So, it’s a celebration for so many reasons,” said Holly Dutcher, executive director.
Dutcher said it also gave families an opportunity to connect with one another and build support for each other.
