ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A Rochester man is facing a financial fraud charge, prison time, and is ordered to pay restitution of $136,679.
Michael Torres of Rochester, 38, has been convicted of financial institution fraud. He will serve three months in prison, three months in home detention, and three years of supervised release.
The sentencing comes after Torres misused his position as a relationship manager at Financial Institution 1, applying for loans through the company in the names of people without their knowledge or authorization.
He applied for 19 loans for a total of $168,000, depositing the money into bank accounts that he controlled.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation was involved.
