If we look at next year’s draft class, it’s not hard to envision how it could easily have a positive effect on the Chicago Bears, no matter where they end up picking. While this year’s draft class was considered a “weak” quarterback class with just two signal callers going in the first round, next year’s couldn’t be more different.
As of right now, PFF has four QBs in the top 32 of the 2027 Big Board – Julian Sayin (#2, Ohio State), Dante Moore (#3, Oregon), Arch Manning (#6, Texas), and Drew Mestemaker (#29, Oklahoma State). Beyond the top 32, we see CJ Carr (#38, Notre Dame), Sam Leavitt (#52, LSU), and Darian Mensah (#69, Miami) round out the top 75.

With really good seasons, we could easily see Jayden Maiava (USC), Trinidad Chambliss (Ole Miss), LaNorris Sellers (South Carolina), CJ Bailey NC State), Josh Hoover (Indiana), Nico Iamaleava (UCLA), or DJ Lagway (Baylor) be 1st Round candidates.

The Bears Can Benefit From A QB-Heavy 2027 NFL Draft Class
Now, obviously, we know that the Bears don’t need a quarterback. Could they be in the market for a late-round backup option in next year’s draft if they were to move Tyson Bagent for draft capital? Sure. But we’re the lucky ones who get to watch Caleb Williams lead our team onto the gridiron every Sunday, and that’s unlikely to change any time soon.

I think anyone who watches or covers the Bears would tell you that, at least as of now, Chicago’s biggest need in next year’s draft will likely be on the defensive line or at offensive tackle. Looking at PFF’s big board for next year, there are four interior defensive linemen, five edge defenders, and six offensive tackles making an appearance.
Now, as with the quarterbacks, we can see many names fluctuate throughout the 2027 college football season. Having said that, with how QB-heavy the draft class looks as of now, Ryan Poles and Ben Johnson could very well have a plethora of really strong value choices whenever it is that they happen to go on the clock in the 2027 NFL Draft.
