Sunday’s high temperatures after the rain clears out are expected to rise into the upper-70s, though areas along Lake Michigan are going to see cooler readings because of breezes coming off the water, according to forecast models.
Winds will shift around a bit late Sunday and into Monday, and as a result temperatures are expected to warm quite a bit heading into the Memorial Day observance, with highs in the mid-to-upper 80s across the area.
Those 80-degree temperatures are expected to stick around for several days into the new work week, but the only real chance of rain in the forecast will arrive on Wednesday. Current forecast models indicate the rain could stay south of the city of Chicago, but behind that weather system it’s likely that temperatures will cool a bit heading into the back half of the week.
By Thursday highs will likely have settled into the upper-70s and low-80s, and that’s where they’ll remain for several days, with partly-to-mostly sunny conditions expected during that time.
