A juvenile boy was taken into custody by the Will County Sheriff on Friday in connection to a threat made against a school in the area, authorities said.
On Friday afternoon, officers with the Will County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the area of Von Esch and Canton Farm roads in Plainfield for a call that the responding officers “quickly” determined was related to a threat made against a nearby school, authorities said.
Responding officers contacted detectives and additional resources were then sent to the area for a further investigation.
Will County Sheriff’s officers also contacted the Plainfield police and Plainfield School District 202 regarding the incident and “appropriate measures were taken at all school facilities,” authorities said.
One juvenile boy was taken into custody by the Will County Sheriff’s Office and is being evaluated by medical professionals, authorities said.
Authorities said there is no threat to the public and additional information will be provided as the investigation develops.
Plainfield School District 202 did not immediately respond to NBC Chicago’s request for comment.
