Warhorse is the company behind the beloved medieval knight game Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, which picked up the BAFTA Games Award for best narrative in April.
Making those games seems to have been perfect preparation for Warhorse as they embark on a quest of their own, to bring a memorable gaming experience to fans of The Lord of the Rings.

Behind the scenes, Warhorse has been moved by their parent company (Embracer) into a new company called Fellowship Games, which is said to be focused on "IP-led" games.
This also follows reports that Amazon had cancelled a massively-multiplayer online Lord of the Rings game. But we're very happy to be getting a role-playing game from Warhorse instead.
View Green Video on the source website"There are loads," he told us. "You know, those worlds are filled with such incredibly rich complex characters. I mean, definitely a kind of Aragorn vibe would be great.
"But there are so many. And actually, if I were to do it – and I flatter to think that anybody would want me to do it – I'd probably rather nudge it away from the Henry vibes a little bit. I quite like playing a sort of broad palette of characters."
It could be several years into the future before we have a release date for the game. We'd love to be surprised on that front, but it's worth remembering that open-world games do take a long time to make.
