Sebastian Camacho will join the Minnesota Gophers for the upcoming 2026-2027 season. Camacho spent his freshman season at Division II Findlay and was a Division II NCAA runner-up in both the 500 and 1000 freestyles.

The Colombia native arrived on campus at Findlay in Ohio this past fall. He went four for four in individual titles at the 2026 Great Midwest-Mountain East Conference Championship. He won the 200 free in a 1:38.12, the 500 free in a 4:22.55, the 1000 free in a 9:03.88, and the 1650 free in a 15:39.41.

He had a huge NCAAs, scoring a total of 50 individual points. He swam to a lifetime best 4:15.92 in the 500 free and a 8:51.45 in the 1000 free to finish at NCAA runner-up in the events. He also was 3rd in the 1650 free in a lifetime best 15:03.28.

Camacho’s Best SCY Times Are:

200 free: 1:35.08 500 free: 4:15.92 1000 free: 8:51.45 1650 free: 15:03.28

The Minnesota men finished 8th out of nine teams at the 2026 Big Ten Championships and went on to finish 31st at the 2026 NCAA Championships with 22 points. Jacob Johnson led the team at NCAAs with 15 points but has announced he will transfer to Georgia for the upcoming season.

Based on his best times, Camacho would have been 7th in the 500 free and 10th in the 1650 free at the 2026 Big Ten Championships. Luke Brennan led the team in both events with a 4:16.36 500 free and a 14:57.89 in the 1650 free at Big Tens. Brennan is a rising junior so the two will overlap for two seasons.

It took a 4:13.82 to make NCAAs in the 500 free and a 14:52.16 in the 1650 free. The 1000 free is not a Division I event except at dual meets.
