Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Markham Aquatic Club’s Ashley Wilkie has committed to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas for the 2026-2027 season.

Wilkie wrote the following regarding her commitment:

I am extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas! I want to give a huge thank you to my family, friends, teammates, and coaches here at MAC for their endless help and support. I also want to thank Coach Julia and Coach Pat, along with the entire coaching staff at UNLV for this amazing opportunity and for making this possible! GO REBELS!

Wilkie hails from Markham, Ontario, and primarily specializes in breaststroke. She swam both of her best long-course breaststroke bests at the Ontario Championships last July, finishing 3rd in the 100 breast in 1:13.02 and 3rd in the 200 breast in 2:35.61. At that same meet, she also swam her best long course 200 IM (2:25.10).

She also holds some versatile freestyle range, including a short course 1500 free best of 17:30.40 from November 2024, an 800 free long course best of 9:23.87 from the Ontario Championships, and a 400 free short course best of 4:30.00 from November 2024.

Best Times Converted to SCY:

Event Time SCY Conversion 100 Breast (LCM) 1:13.02 1:03.98 200 Breast (LCM) 2:35.61 2:16.58 200 IM (LCM) 2:25.10 2:07.83 400 Free (SCM) 4:30.00 5:08.57 (500 Free) 800 Free (LCM) 9:23.87 10:44.42 (1000 Free) 1500 Free (SCM) 17:30.40 17:24.13 (1650 Free)

The UNLV women finished 3rd at the Mountain West Conference Championships this past February.

Based on Wikie’s converted times, she would have qualified for the ‘B’ final of the 200 breast, the ‘C’ final in the 100 breast, and finished 38th in the 200 IM.

Wilkie has plenty of room to grow, especially coming from meters swimming to yards, and her conversions already suggest that she is a point-scoring caliber swimmer for the UNLV women.

She could move from the 200 IM to more of a distance/mid-distance freestyler, as her 500 free conversion suggests she would have finished around 40th at the Mountain West Championships, similar to where her 200 IM would have placed. Both events, conveniently, are on the same day, with no conflicts with the breaststroke races.

Wilkie joins Esme Quay, Ansley Allen, Veronica Shofran, Lily Kemmerer, and Tegan Matthews in the 2026 recruiting class for UNLV.
