Chase Bisontis focused on being ‘that guy’ for Cardinals OL ...Middle East

TEMPE — As soon as Arizona Cardinals rookie offensive lineman Chase Bisontis was taken in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft, he was quickly thrown into the starting conversation.

Regarded as one of the top guard prospects in the draft, Bisontis helps fill a need along the interior following an up-and-down season from Isaiah Adams.

But while many are already penciling in the rookie offensive lineman at right guard, he’s focused on being an important part of the equation no matter where he is lining up.

“I’m really attacking it from center out,” Bisontis said during his introductory press conference on Monday. “Because if something goes wrong, I want to be that guy. To know all five, even the tight end and running back, their responsibilities, will be helpful.”

“I’m just ready to do whatever. Whatever gets me on the field, whatever helps the team and myself,” he added.

Although he played primarily at left guard the past two seasons, Bisontis began his college career as a starting right tackle.

For him, it’s not a chore moving from guard to tackle thanks to his athleticism.

“Putting one foot back doesn’t really make a big difference. It’s just playing football,” Bisontis said.

Despite his willingness to learn all five spots along the line, he fits in best at guard alongside veteran Isaac Seumalo, another newcomer to Arizona this offseason via free agency. Regardless of how it shakes out directionally, these two are the projected Week 1 starters.

Hjalte Froholdt, meanwhile, is back as the starting center, and Paris Johnson Jr. returns to his spot at left tackle.

Elijah Wilkinson figures to round out the starting unit at right tackle, though the role is the furthest of the five from being locked down. If Bisontis shows he can handle NFL life on the outside and Adams proves he can step back into a starting interior role, the rookie could have another window of opportunity.

That is, if he can make up for one of the biggest knocks on his scouting report: his 31 3/4-inch arms.

He hadn’t heard the chatter until this draft process but pointed to one thing for teams to look back on when asked about his arm length.

“I just always told (the Cardinals) or anybody that asked, just watch the film,” Bisontis said. “Because in the SEC you’re going against guys that have longer arms. I know in the NFL I will be doing the same thing. So just watch the film.”

But while Bisontis made up for his short arm length in the SEC and is confident his game can translate to the next level, he’s not shying away from adjusting his approach with an even higher level of competition on the horizon.

“Me and (offensive line coach Justin Frye) been working on some things and technique,” Bisontis said. “You’re going against guy that has lot longer arms than you. What to do in those scenarios. So, it’ll play into the season.”
