A popular music festival set to take place over Memorial Day weekend in Illinois has been unexpectedly canceled just days before fans were slated to arrive.
Summer Camp Music Festival was scheduled for May 21-24 in Chillicothe, Illinois, just outside of Peoria. But on Friday, organizers announced it will no longer take place.
“It is with deep disappointment that we must announce that Summer Camp Music Festival will not take place as scheduled on May 21-24, 2026, at Three Sisters Park in Chillicothe, Illinois,” the group wrote on social media. “This decision was not made lightly. Due to unforeseen financial circumstances involving a third-party service provider, resulting contract complications, and other factors, we have been placed in a position where it is not possible to safely and responsibly produce the festival.”
The festival was expected to celebrate its 25th anniversary this year.
Earlier promotions had indicated the festival planned to host headliners including EOTO, STS9, Big Gigantic, Two Friends, Three 6 Mafia, 2 Chainz, Marc Rebillet, Yonder Mountain String Band, Greensky Bluegrass and more.
“We understand how much this event meant to our fans, artists, partners, and the community, and we are truly sorry for the disruption and disappointment this causes,” the festival wrote.
Organizers urged fans to “refer to the point of purchase” for information on refunds or credits.
“Summer Camp has always been about the people, and your love and support through the highs and the challenges have meant everything. We are truly sorry that this anniversary celebration could not happen the way we all envisioned,” the message read. “To everyone who has shown up year after year, creating the magic, the community, the music, and the memories that make this festival truly special—thank you.”
