Tehran has signaled its acceptance of Egyptian military presence in the Gulf, provided such deployments do not align with American-Israeli interests.
Speaking to Al-Qahera News, Mojtaba Ferdousi, Head of the Iranian Interests Section in Cairo, affirmed that Iran views Egypt’s security cooperation with the GCC as a legitimate exercise of collective defense.
Ferdousi added in televised remarks that Egypt has the right to cooperate with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) within the framework of joint defense, noting that Iran’s position does not conflict with this approach.
He pointed out that Iran’s primary concern is the absence of American and Israeli presence in the Gulf region.
He added that the post-war phase may involve a study to launch a new round of negotiations aimed at strengthening Iranian-Arab relations with the participation of Egypt, highlighting that Tehran relies on Cairo’s pivotal role in this regard.
