Let’s pump the brakes on those Cameron Jordan-to-the-Bears rumors we’ve been hearing throughout the offseason.
To be clear, adding the long-time New Orleans Saints pass-rusher would be an ideal way for the Chicago Bears to bolster their defensive line. Adding an experienced edge defender who has a nose for getting to the quarterback would be a nice bow to put on this offseason’s transactions. And while the Bears could still do it, a Jordan signing doesn’t seem imminent.
“My experience with him was outstanding,” Allen said (via the Sun-Times) during his Saturday press conference at Halas Hall. “Cam’s going to be a frickin Hall of Fame player, is a Hall of Fame player. I don’t know that there’s been a ton of discussion about [signing him]. We feel pretty good about where we’re at and what we have. And yet, you never know what opportunities might present themselves down the road.”
On the one hand, the Bears DC saying there hasn’t been much conversation about bringing Cameron Jordan into the mix feels telling. At a minimum, it allows Chicago’s current collection of pass rushers to prove that the team doesn’t need to bring in help from the outside. But on the other hand, Allen doesn’t completely slam the door on a Jordan signing with that “you never know what opportunity might present themselves down the road” line. If the Bears are playing a cat-and-mouse game here, then my caps off to them for doing so in this way.

What will the Bears do if Cameron Jordan isn’t an option?
This is what was on my mind when we last wrote on the site about Cameron Jordan as a Bears fit:
Firstly, Cameron Jordan is open to a return to the New Orleans Saints. This is understandable. After all, it is the only team he has known, and he has established himself as an all-time franchise great. However, Jordan also acknowledges that what he wants and what the team wants might not be the same thing. And if that is the case, then Jordan sounds open to taking his talents elsewhere.
With that being said, my second main takeaway is that Cameron Jordan sounds like someone who still wants to get paid. Jordan is coming off a season in which he collected 10.5 sacks, 15 quarterback hits, and 15 tackles-for-loss while playing on 54 percent of the defensive snaps and appearing in all 17 games for the Saints. Hence, I can understand why he would still value his worth in a major way as a free agent. But because of that, I have questions about his fit with the Bears.
Frankly, not much has changed on that front. Cameron Jordan isn’t doesn’t seem like he is in a rush to sign anywhere unless the money is right. The Bears don’t seem inclined to make a signing until after they exhaust every offseason workout and minicamp practice. The only notable difference is that the Bears have a little more cap room to work with at the moment. The team is $11,301,599 under the 2026 NFL salary cap, according to Over The Cap’s data. If you’ll recall, the Bears were at less than $500,000 when we posted our last Jordan update.

Montez Sweat — I feel good about Sweat coming into the 2026 NFL season. He is a pro’s pro whose game is steady and reliable and always seems to produce enough by year’s end. Austin Booker — Booker had a strong finish to the 2025 NFL season and played well enough to earn a chance to prove that he should go into the 2026 campaign as an unquestioned starter. This could be a make-or-break season for Booker, who is extension-eligible after the upcoming season. Dayo Odeyingbo — An Achilles injury cut short his first season. But it’s not as if it was going well before the injury. The Bears didn’t get to deploy Dayo in a way that maxed out his athleticism, versatility, and potential. I’m guessing they’ll give him that chance if he proves to be healthy.Jeremiah Martin, Daniel Hardy, and Jonathan Garvin round out the rest of the Bears players who are listed as defensive ends. I suppose we could see Shemar Turner and Gervon Dexter Sr. line up as defensive ends next season. It wouldn’t surprise me to see DA throw the kitchen sink at opposing offenses if it meant getting a better pass rush in 2026. With that being said, I don’t believe Chicago’s front office is done adding here. Maybe Cameron Jordan lands in Chicago later in the offseason. But right now? It doesn’t seem like it is in the cards.
