Who Did the Bears’ NFC North Rivals Take in the 2026 NFL Draft? ...Middle East

Sport by : (Bleacher Nation) -

At this time last week, we were dissecting what the Chicago Bears were doing on the final day of the 2026 NFL Draft. But now that last weekend’s events are fully in our rear-view mirror, I thought it was a good time to check out what the Bears’ rivals around the NFC North did with their picks.

2026 NFL Draft Picks: Detroit Lions

The two-time defending NFC North champions swept the Bears in the regular season. Still, Chicago won the division and advanced to the Divisional Round. Meanwhile, Detroit sat at home as the fan base spent their free time writing fan fiction to explain why losing Ben Johnson actually wasn’t a big deal. You’ve gotta believe ’em this time after this round of edits!

These are the picks Detroit’s front office made during last weekend’s NFL Draft:

Round 1: OT Blake Miller (Clemson) Round 2: EDGE Derrick Moore (Michigan) Round 4: LB Jimmy Rolder (Michigan) Round 5: CB Keith Abney II (Arizona State), WR Kendrick Law (Kentucky) Round 6: DT Skyler Gill-Howard (Texas Tech) Round 7: EDGE Tyre West (Tennessee)

ANALYSIS: With the Lions and bears having similar needs going into the 2026 NFL Draft, I warned folks they were a team to watch to see how they would use their picks. Not only did their first two selections target players at position groups I thought the Bears would be wise to fill, but I know that Matt, Patrick, and I discussed both Miller and Moore as possible fits for Chicago.

Miller wasn’t my favorite offensive line prospect, so that isn’t a big loss. But getting Moore could be a nice get for Detroit. Hopefully, Bears blockers are up to the task in 2026.

2026 NFL Draft Picks: Minnesota Vikings

One year after bowing out of the playoffs in the opening round, the Vikings missed the playoffs entirely in 2025. They also fired their general manager during Senior Bowl Week, then watched their former starting quarterback — the one who led them to 14 regular-season wins in 2025 — win the Super Bowl with the Seattle Seahawks. I suppose that helps explain why they canned their GM.

These are the picks Minnesota made last weekend:

Round 1: DT Caleb Banks (Florida) Round 2: LB Jake Golday (Cincinnati) Round 3: DT Domonique Orange (Iowa State), OT Caleb Tiernan (Northwestern), S Jakobe Thomas (Miami) Round 5: TE Max Bredeson (Michigan), CB Charles Demmings (Stephen F. Austin) Round 6: RB Demond Claiborne (Wake Forest) Round 7: C Gavin Gerhardt (Cincinnati

WHY THE VIKINGS STARTED THEIR GM SEARCH AFTER THE DRAFT

ANALYSIS: While the Vikings landed a pair of my favorite potential Bears fits (DT Domonique Orange, OT Caleb Tiernan) in Round 3, knowing that ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. called their first-round selection of Florida defensive tackle Caleb Banks a “big-time reach” helps me sleep better at night. Don’t get it twisted. I liked Banks’ profile coming out of college. But the injury concerns were enough to keep him off several teams’ draft boards.

2026 NFL Draft Picks: Green Bay Packers

The Packers taking two cornerbacks, two defensive linemen, and a kicker after the way they lost to the Bears in the playoffs makes a whole lotta sense to me. These are Green Bay’s picks:

Round 2: CB Brandon Cisse (South Carolina) Round 3: DT Chris McClellan (Missouri) Round 4: EDGE Dani Dennis-Sutton (Penn State) Round 5: C Jager Burton (Kentucky) Round 6: CB Domani Jackson (Alabama), K Trey Smack (Florida)

THE PACKERS HOSTED CHASE CLAYPOOL FOR A TRYOUT

ANALYSIS: Once again, the Packers continued a long-standing tradition of annoying me on NFL Draft weekend by taking some of my favorite prospects who I thought might have been good fits for the Bears. Last year, it was Texas receiver Matthew Golden. But this year, Green Bay doubled up on prospects I was digging with the selections of Penn State edge defender Dani Dennis-Sutton and Kentucky center Jager Burton.

I’m happy with the Logan Jones pick because I truly believe there is a real chance he starts at center in Week 1. But I hope not taking an edge defender doesn’t come back to bite the Bears in the butt.
