ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Rush-Henrietta junior Noah Collins-Howard is taking his talents to Syracuse University, where he will play two Division I sports — football and track.
On the football field, Collins-Howard said he plays with confidence.
“If I’m one on one on an island, I believe if the ball’s in the air it’s gonna come down with me,” Collins-Howard said.
He’s excited to stay close to home and compete at Syracuse.
“I wanna be the kid who’s known as – the King of New York I would say. That’s who I want to be,” Collins-Howard said.
Playing two Division I sports sets him apart from other athletes.
“Always work hard and be different. Stick out. Don’t be who everybody else is,” Collins-Howard said.
Collins-Howard’s impact extends beyond the football field, Rush-Henrietta, and Syracuse. He recently traveled to Ghana, where he helped bring fresh water to a village.
“After that experience we shouldn’t ever take water for granted, especially being down there. You would see a lot of young kids, young girls down there, have to skip school to go to a pond and get water and it wouldn’t even be fresh. So them being able to have a waterhole in their village makes more convenience and now young girls can get their education,” Collins-Howard said.
The experience gave him a new outlook on life.
“Gave me a different perspective of life and how blessed I am to be in the position that I am today and me being who I am, I wanna give all thanks to God,” Collins-Howard said.
Despite making an impact globally, Noah Collins-Howard said he wants to give back to Rochester.
“There’s a lot of people here in Rochester who’ve done so much for me and believed in me, and now that I’m successful I would love to give back to the people who have helped me through this journey,” Collins-Howard said.
