A close friend of mine likes to take his Meta Quest 3 with him when he travels for work. He says it’s a good way to pass the time in the evenings when he’s in a hotel. The only thing is that he’s concerned about damaging the headset just going place to place. This is why UAG made the Plyo and Scout cases for the Meta Quest.
About Urban Armor Gear’s Cases for Meta Quest 3
Urban Armor Gear’s Plyo and Scout cases for Meta Quest 3 both aim to solve the same problem: protecting one of the most exposed parts of the headset without getting in the way of how it works. These are snap-on front shells designed to guard against drops, bumps, and scratches while still allowing full access to the cameras, sensors, and vents. They don’t try to reinvent the headset or add bulk. Instead, they focus on adding a layer of protection that stays lightweight and out of the way.
Where they start to feel different is in how they approach design. The Plyo goes for a cleaner, more modern look with its translucent build and softer co-molded materials, so you still see the original design of the Quest 3 underneath. The Scout takes a more rugged route, with a solid shell and a patterned exterior that leans into that classic UAG style. At the end of the day, both offer similar protection, but give you two distinct options depending on whether you prefer something subtle or something that looks a bit tougher.

The Plyo and Scout cases both came in a very simple retail-style cardboard box. There was UAG branding on it and the main features were called out. The Scout only comes in one color, but the Plyo is available in two options: Ash and Clear. I received the Ash version. There are no instructions or user manual that comes with the cases, but honestly, it’s not really needed. The case just snaps onto the front of the Meta Quest.
Both cases were easy to install, but the Scout did feel more secure. Installation is as simple as lining up the case on the Meta Quest and then pushing it into place. The Plyo did seem to slip off easier than the Scout did. It did not seem as though there were any overly tight spots and when I wanted to remove the cases, I was able to.
Scout Case for Meta Quest 3 Scout Case for Meta Quest 3Because the case just fits on the front of the Meta Quest, it doesn’t change how it feels when you wear it. The cases are so lightweight that it doesn’t even feel as though it adds any extra weight. Neither case interfered with the straps at all. The fit of the case is 100% contained to the front of the Meta Quest. The cutouts for the strap, buttons and cameras are very precise. I didn’t notice the Meta Quest getting overheated due to the case. The cutouts for the vents seemed to help with that. Everything seemed to run smoothly with the case on.
To be honest, I don’t even notice a huge physical difference when I have either case on the Meta Quest. It works the same as it does when there is no case, but I have the added benefit of protection for device. The Plyo doesn’t collect any finger prints, but I have noticed a few on the Scout simply because it has a more glossy surface. They aren’t super noticeable because of the grid design on the case, but they are there. They do wipe off easy enough.
Plyo Case for Meta Quest 3 Plyo Case for Meta Quest 3As far as protection goes, I think the Scout and Plyo cases definitely help with scratches and small bumps, but I would worry about any major drops or falls. With the Plyo, I believe if it were bumped hard enough, the case would just pop off. The Scout is more secure, but it is still just a snap-on case. Overall, I think the cases do their jobs well.
Plyo Case for Meta Quest 3Conclusion
At the end of the day, I think both the Plyo and Scout cases from Urban Armor Gear deliver exactly what they promise. They add lightweight, no-fuss protection to my Meta Quest 3 without getting in the way of actually using it. I like that I can snap either one on and pretty much forget it’s even there, while still feeling a bit better about tossing the headset in a bag or setting it down on a hard surface.
