Two-time Texas high school state champion Landon Fike has announced his verbal commitment to swim at Indiana University beginning in the fall of 2026. He publicized the news on Instagram, writing:
I’m proud and excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Indiana University! I’d like to thank my parents, family, friends, and coaches for their support. I also want to give a special thank you to Coach Coley Stickels for his incredible help in my development and for guiding me through this process. Thank you to Coach Ray, Coach Luke, and the rest of the coaching staff at IU for this opportunity. Go Hoosiers!

Fike is in the midst of his senior year at Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas, where he has been a member of his school’s varsity swimming and diving team all four years. He trains year-round with Texas Ford Aquatics and primarily specializes in sprint freestyle and butterfly. He is the son of James Fike, who swam for the University of Texas from 1999 to 2003, and has since remained active in the sport through Masters swimming and as the founder of Fike Swim.
Fike wrapped up his high school career at the University Interscholastic League (UIL) 5A State Championships, where he won the 50 free (20.03) and 100 fly (48.11) and helped Woodrow Wilson place 17th in the 400 free relay with a then-personal best 44.74 leadoff. A four-year qualifier for the meet, it was his best performance to date, as he had finished second in the 100 fly a year ago and had never cracked the top 10 in any other event prior. He was named Athlete of the Meet for his efforts.
Fike’s best meet of the 2025-26 season came at the Speedo Sectionals meet in Justin last month, where he won the 50 free (20.05) and 50 fly (21.02), placed second in the 100 free (44.48), and touched fourth in the 100 fly (47.94). He also helped Texas Ford Aquatics win both the 200 free relay (19.76 anchor) and 200 medley relay (20.79 on fly), helped the 400 free relay to bronze (44.43 leadoff), and helped the 400 medley relay to sixth (48.25 on fly).
He is on a strong improvement trajectory that clearly caught the Hoosiers’ coaching staff’s eye. A year ago, he owned personal bests of 20.75 in the 50 free, 46.58 in the 100 free, and 49.46 in the 100 fly, meaning he has since dropped over seven tenths in the 50, over two seconds in the 100 free, and a second and a half in the 100 fly.

50 Freestyle: 20.03 100 Freestyle: 44.43 100 Butterfly: 47.94A Division I program, Indiana competes in the Big Ten Conference, with the men’s team winning their fifth straight and 32nd all-time team title at this past season’s conference championships before going on to take third at the NCAA Championships.
Based on the results from the meet, Fike would have placed 24th in the 50 free prelims, sneaking into the ‘C’ final, while it took times of 43.71 in the 100 free and 46.48 in the 100 fly to earn a second swim in those events. To eventually qualify for the NCAA meet, he will likely need to get into the 18-high range in the 50 free, the 41-high range in the 100 free, and the 44-high range in the 100 fly.
On the team’s projected 2026-27 depth chart, Fike is slated to rank ninth in the 50 free, 13th in the 100 fly, and 15th in the 100 free, bringing some added depth to the roster.
Fike joins a sprint-heavy Hoosier recruiting class that includes Brody Engelstad (sprint free, 19.65/43.38), Sam Wolf (sprint free/breast, 19.88/44.69), Elliot Rijnovean (sprint free/fly, 20.09/44.19/47.85), Carter Hadley (sprint free/back, 20.74/44.03), Matt Krause (sprint free/fly, 20.85/44.70/47.90), Oliver Dawson (breast), and Gabriel Manteufel (distance free).
