SOLVANG, Calif. (KEYT) —The hit FOX reality dating series Farmer Wants a Wife is back Tuesday with a brand new season — and a new group of farmers ready to open their hearts in search of lasting love.
Ahead of the premiere, News Channel reporter Mina Wahab traveled to Solvang, where she met the show’s leading men and got a glimpse into the world where romance meets rural life.
This season introduces three bachelors from across the country – hailing from Illinois, Tennessee, and California’s Central Coast — each hoping to find “the one” while sharing their unique agricultural lifestyles.
Among them is 22-year-old Sean Cavanaugh, a farm-to-table produce farmer based in the Santa Ynez Valley. Cavanaugh helps run his family’s business, growing fresh produce that goes directly from the orchard to local restaurant tables.
He says the most rewarding part of his work is seeing the full journey of the food he helps cultivate.
“Growing all of our produce and then taking it to the restaurant… seeing the process from the orchard straight to the table — it’s such a fulfilling life.”
Cavanaugh is joined by two other farmers: a former bull rider turned rancher and a fifth-generation corn and soybean farmer. Together, they’ll navigate relationships with women willing to leave behind city life for the realities of rural living.
That transition isn’t always easy.
“There’s a lot of economic challenges,” said farmer Braden Pridemore. “Mother Nature is your boss… that’s your livelihood.”
Season 4 promises a more intimate storytelling approach, focusing on fewer farmers and diving deeper into each relationship. Viewers will also see family and friends play a bigger role, offering a more complete picture of life on the farm.
“Their family and friends come and get to see where I grew up,” said farmer Brett Maverick. “There’s not a lot out there, but what we do have — it’s nice.”
While the setting may be rustic, the emotions are real. For these farmers, the journey isn’t just about dating — it’s about finding a lifelong partner who’s ready to embrace both the challenges and rewards of country life.
And for viewers, the new season promises plenty of heart — and a little fun along the way.
