Poppy Maskill hacked more than a second off the S14 world record in the women’s 100 fly on day 5 of the Aquatics GB Championships, touching more than two seconds ahead of the field in a massive lifetime best of 1:01.52.

That hacked more than a second off the previous mark of 1:02.58, lowering her own best and British record of 1:03.00 by 1.48 seconds. She won her second title of the week, having also won the 100 free on day 1 in a time of 57.06, which marked a new best time by eight tenths of a second.

Her 100 fly swim tonight marked the fourth time in the last two years that she had broken the S14 world record. She initially set it at 1:03.00 to swin gold at the Paris Paralympics in 2024, which she lowered to 1:02.74 at the Aquatics GB Next Gen Championships in July 2025. Two months later, she shaved 0.16 seconds off as she won gold at the World Para Championships in 1:02.58.

She was out far faster tonight than in her 1:02.74 from last summer (splits for her 1:02.58 are not available). She hit the halfway point in 28.60 compared to the 29.28 in her former mark, and closed in 32.92 this year compared to 33.46.

Faye Rogers took 2nd behind Maskill, touching in 1:04.08 for 992 Para points. That was just off her British record of 1:03.94 from last September

Maskill was back in action later in the session, placing 8th in the 200 IM in a time of 2:30.36.

Her 100 fly record marks the second world record set so far by the para swimmers at the Aquatics GB Championships, following on from Will Ellard‘s 100 free S14 record on day 3. The Manchester Performance centre swimmer clocked 50.41 to lower his British Record by 0.17 seconds, and will be in action again tomorrow in the 200 free.

He is entered with his world record time of 1:51.08 in that event, in which he is the reigning Paralympic and World Para champion. That makes him the #22 seed overall, seeing him swim out of lane 9 in the final circle-seeded heat, where he will race Duncan Scott and Matt Richards.
