ALBANY, N.Y. — New York State is delaying its repeal of the 100-foot rule until next year.
The repeal is now scheduled for April 10, 2027. When it goes into effect, new homeowners will no longer be able to get free natural gas hook-ups that are within 100-feet of a gas line.
The repeal has gotten a good deal of pushback, with Western New Yorkers pointing out the region relies on gas more than other parts of the state.
Supporters of the repeal say it will bring down costs for ratepayers.
