2026 AQUATICS GB SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS
Tuesday, April 14th – Sunday, April 19th Prelims at 9:30am local (4:30am ET)/B-Finals & Junior Finals at 6pm local (1pm ET)/A-finals at 7:45pm local (2:45pm ET) London Aquatics Centre European Championships Selection Policy SwimSwam Preview Meet Central Entries Prelims Recaps: Day 1 | Day 2 Finals Recaps: Day 1 | Day 2 Start Lists/Live Results LivestreamFilip Nowacki delivered his second elite swim in two days at the Aquatics GB Championships, following up his 59.39 in the 100 breast with a 27.10 in the 50 breast to take silver behind World Record holder Adam Peaty.
He set a new British 18-year-olds record in both the heats and final of the 100 breast yesterday, posting 59.83 in the morning before knocking another 0.44 seconds off to go 59.39 in the final. The first swim had shaved 0.09 seconds off Adam Peaty‘s 2013 mark of 59.92, before the Jersey native lowered the standard again.
Max Morgan also went under Peaty’s mark, touching 3rd in the final in a time of 59.56, qualifying for England’s Commonwealth Games squad but missing out on a spot at the European Championships.
The 50 breast record was broken in both heats and finals again, but this time it was by two different swimmers. Max Morgan was 27.28 to place 2nd this morning, shaving 0.08 seconds off his own record of 27.36 from this January. That swim had snatched the record away from Peaty, who swam 27.58 in the summer of 2013.
Nowacki then broke Morgan’s record this evening in 27.10, marking a new personal best by 0.08 seconds for the Millfield swimmer. Morgan was also under his time from this morning, clocking 27.22 to fall 0.01 seconds outside his PB as he placed joint-3rd in a tie with Scottish record holder Archie Goodburn. Morgan ended up in a familiar position, qualifying for the Commonwealth Games but just missing a European spot.
Nowacki owns the 50, 100 and 200 breast records for the 17-year-old age group, all set at the World Junior Championships last summer, and this swim now gives him the sweep for the 18-year-old age group as well. He is the fastest British junior in history, nearly half a second ahead of Adam Peaty‘s junior mark in the event.
Men’s 50m breast, GB 18&Under Top 5
Filip Nowacki – 27.10, 2026 Aquatics GB Championships Max Morgan, 27.21, 2025 World Junior Championships Adam Peaty – 27.58, 2013 British Swimming Championships Callum Melville – 27.69, 2023 European Junior Championships Archie Goodburn – 27.83, 2019 World Junior ChampionshipsPeaty swam that 27.58 one year before he set his first world record, clocking 26.62 in the semi finals at the 2014 European Championships before taking gold in the final in a slightly slower time of 27.00.
Of note, Aran Bisset became the seventh-fastest 18/under GB swimmer as he clocked 27.95, a huge drop from his 29.10 entry time. He only broke 30 seconds in May last year, and will be yet another junior to watch at these championships. He is entered in the 100 freestyle tomorrow in a time of 50.63, but swam 49.76 just last month which would upgrade him to the #17 seed.
Nowacki will go again in the 200 IM on Friday, where he is the 14th seed in 2:02.93, before closing out the meet with the 200 breast on Saturday. He is the top seed there by more than two seconds with his European junior record of 2:07.32 from last summer.
