HAMBURG, N.Y. — A Hamburg man is ending his legal battle to get his pet alligator back from New York State.
Tony Cavallaro has been fighting for Albert’s return since March 2024 when the alligator was seized by the New York Department of Environmental Conservation. The state claimed Cavallaro failed to get a dangerous animal license for Albert for three years and the gator had health issues.
Cavallaro’s lawyer says the road has been long and expensive. According to his lawyer, Cavallaro would be stuck in a court battle for at least one more year if he continued his fight for Albert.
Albert now lives in a sanctuary in Texas.
