ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Around 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, the Rochester Fire Department went to a house fire at 89 Herald Street, after getting a report of fire and smoke coming from the window of the house. The house was occupied when the fire began, as it was caused by an overloaded electrical socket, according to RFD.
When RFD got to the scene, they said the house also had smoke showing from the second floor. The fire was under control in about 20 minutes, RFD added.
Investigators say that the overloaded electrical socket was accidental.
Four adults and one child were reported as displaced due to the fire, none of them were injured according to RFD.
The American Red Cross was requested to assist the victims.
