They are a premium gaming headset made more elite by its outstanding vibrant color options. Today, SteelSeries is kicking off their 25th anniversary with the launch of the Aerox 3 Wireless Gen 2 series of gaming mice
About Aerox 3 Wireless Gen 2 Gaming Mouse
The SteelSeries Aerox 3 Wireless Gen 2 is an ultra-lightweight gaming mouse designed for players who want fast wireless performance, strong battery life, and deep customization without moving into the highest-priced premium tier. Weighing just 68 grams, it features a symmetrical shape, six programmable buttons, and dual wireless connectivity with both 2.4GHz and Bluetooth support.
Built around a TrueMove 26K optical sensor, the mouse supports up to 26,000 DPI, 400 IPS tracking, and 40G acceleration for smooth, precise movement. Its headline feature is 4K wireless polling, allowing the cursor to refresh up to 4,000 times per second for faster response and improved tracking accuracy. SteelSeries also rates the mechanical switches for up to 80 million clicks and includes IP54-rated AquaBarrier protection against dust, dirt, sweat, and spills.
The Aerox 3 Wireless Gen 2 is available in Shadow, Ghost, and Magenta Haze colorways, each with a translucent shell and three-zone RGB lighting. Through SteelSeries GG software, users can fine-tune sensitivity, acceleration, lift-off distance, polling rate, and other advanced settings while saving profiles directly to the mouse for use across different systems.

User Experience
The Aerox Wireless Gen 2 comes with a gorgeous magenta USB-C to USB-A charging cable, a 2.4 GHz wireless receiver also in magenta, USB-C to USB-C Extension Adapter and a user guide. The mouse is very lightweight and while I wasn’t sure how much I would like the way the honeycomb pattern would feel, especially after long use sessions, I was pleasantly surprised how comfortable it is in the hand.
There was a period of time where I exclusively used a compact/travel mouse because I loved the way the smaller mouse moved on a desk surface. So, the slightly smaller frame of the Aerox 3 is something I prefer. I know some people may prefer a larger frame and for them, there is the Aerox 5, which has a thumb rest and is more conducive to palm grip users. The Aerox 3 is definitely a claw grip mouse.
The buttons are easy to press and my thumb can easily reach the side buttons. I have them set to switch desktops on my MacBook Pro so I frequently use them throughout the day. I love that the middle button is set for DPI switching. I never thought I would swap DPI settings so much, but I’ve learned that I do it a lot. The scroll wheel has a soft tactile bump and it’s easy to spin.
After I used the mouse just a bit, I loaded SteelSeries GG and connected it. There was, of course, a firmware update ready. So, I went through that process. It’s important to note that you need to update both the mouse and the wireless dongle. The app walks you through the process step-by-step. Once it was done with its updates, I changed some of the settings so that I could see what the difference was between 1K and 4K polling rates.
When I started using the mouse on 1K, I was using a 2400 DPI setting, but it felt a little sputtery. I tried going up one more notch, but that was too fast and I felt like it was jumpy. The truth is, that almost made me hate this mouse. Then, I adjusted to the 4K polling rate. Wow! What a difference that makes. I was able to adjust up to 2950 DPI and movements were so much more precise with my 2K / 240 Hz LG monitor. Every movement felt so much more fluid thanks to the higher polling rate and DPI.
Once I adjusted the mouse to the 4K polling rate, I turned the DPI up to the highest level possible (25,700). It was wild. I barely bumped the mouse and the cursor flew across the screen. It wasn’t manageable for me and I was grateful to have the DPI button on the mouse because I was having trouble getting the cursor back to the GG app.
I have tried all three connection modes and all of them feel very stable to me. I think my favorite is the 2.4 GHz simply because I can take advantage of the higher polling rate. Some of the pro-level settings are not available when you connect via Bluetooth. As far as battery usage goes, I have found that it’s very reliable and long-lasting. It had power out of the box and lasted several days while I used it with the 2.4 GHz adapter. I did run it down to where it was nearly dead, but after I charged it, I let it sit for several days without use and it still had nearly 50% when I started using it again.
QcK Heavy Mousepads in White and Magenta
Along with the release of the Aerox 3 Gen 2, SteelSeries is launching the QcK Heavy mousepads in white and magenta to complement the mouse and the Arctis Nova 7 Gen 2 color collections. They are available in the L and XXL sizes in white and magenta. Black is also available in other sizes. Prices start at $34.99 and is size dependent. I had the opportunity to try out the QcK Heavy Mousepad in Magenta alongside the Aerox 3 Gen 2 mouse. It was glorious. The striking deep pink color set against the honeycomb design of the mouse just made a huge pop on my desk.
My daily-driver mousepad is a leather desk mat with a semi-shiny surface. The traction that the QcK mouse pad offers makes it possible for me to use a higher DPI setting because the mouse isn’t bouncing around everywhere. The larger square size is a little strange to me because it’s not the right sizing to extend the entire length of the desk so that the keyboard can also be sitting on it. It’s proportioned specifically for use with a mouse and nothing else. That said, the area of the desk it covers is great for large arm movements because I don’t think there is any way you would fall off the edge of it.
I love the thickness of the mouse pad. It’s very comfortable to rest your wrist on and the weight of it keeps it from sliding around the desk. It’s an awesome addition to any gaming setup.

The SteelSeries Aerox 3 Wireless Gen 2 does a great job balancing performance, comfort, customization, and style. The 4K polling rate really does make a difference, especially if you are using a high refresh rate monitor, and the longer battery life is something I definitely appreciated. It feels like a more premium mouse without carrying the higher-end price tag. If you want a lightweight wireless mouse that feels fast, responsive, and reliable, the Aerox 3 Wireless Gen 2 is an easy one to recommend.
