Yet another very warm run of temperatures courtesy of a moderate offshore flow w2ill slowly weaken in to early next week. This means some patchy fog is expected to return and as is common when we transition back to a weak onshore flow, the fog will sit close to the ground with visibility issues possible. Overnight lows will be in the 50's with a few areas seeing only low 60's as the offshore winds continue to keep things warmer than normal. Highs on Monday will be cooler, but still remain above normal with most areas topping out in the upper 60's and 70's. A few areas could see 80's depending on the last few breaths of offshore winds.
Looking ahead, more onshore flow and fog with cooler temperatures will be the weather story through mid week. We could see some gusty winds along the South Coast for both Tuesday and Wednesday during the overnight hours. The northerly winds would be strongest near Gaviota and weaken as you head more south east toward Santa Barbara. We will monitor this closely and inform you if a Wind Advisory is posted by the National Weather Service. A late season storm is then forecast to bring us rain by Thursday or Friday. The system appears to be fairly strong for this time of year and we will need to watch it closely to nail down timing and intensity as it gets closer. For now, we will call for about a quarter of an inch to possibly one inch of rain falling between Thursday and early Saturday. There is also an outside chance for enough instability to generate thunderstorms which would bring chances for pockets of heavy rain, wind, lightning, small hail and waterspouts or tornadoes. Again, it's still a bit early and this will be watched closely by the weather team with updates being pushed out frequently through next week. Stay tuned.
