According to the press release, the Wizards of Waverly Place reboot will go into production in the first full week of April. It’ll pick up where season two left off, with leading lady Billie — Janice LeAnn Brown — moving forward after the loss of Gomez’s character, Alex Russo, shortly after finding out that Alex is her mother.
The Rare Beauty founder will direct the third season’s premiere episode, which is billed as a “four-part event” featuring costars David Henrie, Alkaio Thiele, Max Matenko, Taylor Cora and Mimi Gianopulos casting “one last spell” together. And yes, despite Alex sacrificing herself for her daughter and throwing herself into a one-way portal at the end of the second season, Gomez will reprise her role in the last season.
