MONROE COUNTY, N.Y. — Monroe County is investing more than $4 million to address the highest black maternal mortality rate in New York State.
Local leaders announced on Wednesday morning that the county is using funds from the American Rescue Plan Act to support programs focused on reducing racial and economic disparities in prenatal and postpartum care. The funding will expand access to critical services and provide support for mothers and families across Monroe County.
Jaime Saunders with the United Way says every family deserves a healthy start.
“We know the earliest days of a child’s life sets the foundation for everything that follows, and we know strong and healthy families make strong communities,” Saunders said.
