The ending of Sunday’s Elite Eight matchup between Duke and UConn was extraordinary, historic and very, very strange.
UConn freshman Braylon Mullins sent Duke packing with a nearly half-court heave, which put the Huskies on top with 0.3 seconds remaining. A lot of users on social media insisted the shot is among the best in March Madness history, and we certainly won’t argue. Here’s the shot, for context:

— Bleacher Report (@BleacherReport) March 29, 2026That wasn’t the strange part.
No, the strange part was what happened after. UConn coach Dan Hurley was then seen in a video, appearing to slowly headbutt referee Roger Ayers. It wasn’t a forceful move or anything — Ayers didn’t really even move — but it was definitely bizarre and, according to some, worthy of a technical foul for making contact with an official with time still on the clock. You can find a video of the incident in the post below.
Which brings us to Seth Greenberg, who said he talked with referee Roger Ayers regarding the incident. Greenberg emphatically downplayed it, insisting Ayers didn’t even know what he was talking about when he brought it up. Greenberg then went on to say that Ayers told him, “nothing happened.”
Greenberg continued by saying that the incident was nothing more than social media trying to make something out of nothing due to Hurley’s… intriguing reputation. Hear it from Greenberg himself below:
Seth Greenberg: "I talked to [Roger Ayers]… He said, 'What are you talking about?' He literally didn't know what I was talking about. He said, 'Nothing happened'… That was social media trying to create something out of nothing because of Dan Hurley's 'allegedly' reputation." pic.twitter.com/hsmp0AixR4
