However, once the field restrictions were lifted, the veteran slowed down. He took 22 deliveries to score the next 31 runs, clearly indicating that the struggled in the middle-overs. In terms of boundaries, Rahane scored five within the powerplay. However, he slowed down significantly after that, and scored just three more boundaries before he was sent packing.
Despite being a veteran, it would have been better off if Rahane had retired himself out soon after the powerplay. The reason being that he slowed down the innings for KKR, who could have potentially made it to a 200+ run total with ease at the end of 15 overs. if they had some more fireworks. But due to Rahane’s poor strike rate after the powerplay, the scoreboard stopped ticking at the pace at which it was previously.
