A man has been arrested and charged with capital murder in connection to the 1990 “Lover’s Lane” cold case in Nebraska, in which a young man and woman were viciously killed.
Harris County District Attorney Sean Teare announced that Floyd William Parrott has been charged with capital murder for the 1990 deaths of Cheryl Henry, 22, and Andy Atkinson, 21, in Houston, Texas, according to charging docs obtained by Us Weekly.
Officials said that Parrot, 64, was arrested in Lincoln, Nebraska, on Wednesday, March 25, by Houston Police Department officers and the FBI.
Henry and Atkinson were found dead in a wooded area on August 23, 1990, with police saying they were both stabbed in the throat. Atkinson was found tied to a tree about 100 yards away from Henry. Officials also said that Henry had been sexually assaulted at the time of the attack.

The couple was last seen the night before their bodies were found when Henry and her sister met Atkinson at a nightclub on Westheimer Road. A missing person’s report was filed the following day after Henry or Atkinson had not been seen by their friends or family.
A security guard found Henry and Atkinson later that day when he was doing random patrols.
After Parrot was arrested, Teare issued a statement to reflect on the hard work authorities put into identifying a suspect in the murders.
“One of Houston’s most haunting and infamous cold cases has weighed on the Henry and Atkinson families, as well as our community, for more than three decades,” Teare said, according to FOX 26. “Our prosecutors, working with the HPD and FBI, have pursued this investigation with relentless and dogged determination. They have worked hundreds of leads, facing dead ends and plenty of frustration. But they never gave up on Cheryl and Andy.”
Teare continued: “Thank you to all investigators who have touched this case. Your perseverance has delivered something two families long deserved: progress and hope. Today is a good day.”

Parrot had a long history of legal issues prior to his latest arrest.
Court records indicate that Parrott was previously arrested in May 1988 and put on probation for impersonating a Harris County peace officer. He was arrested and convicted a second time in December 1988 for carrying a weapon in Harris County.
Parrot was arrested for impersonating a peace officer again in May 1990, while a Houston Police Department report named Parrott as a suspect in a sexual assault case in 1996, according to FOX 26.
It is not currently clear if Parrot knew Henry or Atkinson prior to their murders.
It has also not been revealed if Parrot has entered a plea or retained legal representation following his arrest.
