After a dramatic win in Anton Frondell‘s debut on Tuesday night, the Blackhawks are back on the ice tonight in Philadelphia. The excitement around Frondell’s first NHL action was great, and his performance supported it. We’ll find out at the morning skate today if there will be another rookie lap with Sacha Boisvert now cleared to play. His paperwork came thru late, so he didn’t draw in against the Islanders. But the prospect of having two recent first-round picks jump into the lineup is what we’ve been living for over the past couple years.
Since taking over as general manager of the Blackhawks, Kyle Davidson has made 11 first-round selections in four drafts. Boisvert stands to become the eighth to make his NHL debut. The building process is happening in real time, folks.
This is a brilliant read from Dan Robson at The Athletic on the culture change that’s happening at light speed in the NHL right now. The young generation is taking over the game, with big personalities on and off the ice to go with stellar play on it. We’re seeing a lot of it first-hand with the way the young Blackhawks engage with social media and how the team presents them on their own channels. Highly recommend this! The NHL's new generation is arguably the most talented cohort the sport has ever seen. But the young stars are disrupting the game’s old-school culture off the ice even more. Here's a gift link for my latest feature for @TheAthIetic t.co/SYbJVjvx18
— Dan Robson (@RobsonDan) March 25, 2026 It’s March Madness time for Blackhawks prospects! The NCAA men’s hockey tournament begins today. John Mustard, Julius Sumpf and Providence are in action at 4 PM CT against Quinnipiac. Adam Gajan and Minnesota-Duluth get their party started tomorrow. The OHL playoffs also begin today. AJ Spellacy (hopefully healthy and ready to roll) and Windsor host Guelph tonight. Jack Pridham and Kitchener and Marek Vanacker, Parker Holmes and Brantford all get their first-round series started tomorrow. Nathan Behm and Kamloops start their postseason tomorrow night. An interesting thread on Twitter from Jack Han yesterday that looks at the significance of Frondell emerging as a running mate for Connor Bedard, and how that impacts the depth of the Blackhawks’ offense in the coming years. Recommend clicking on the link and looking thru it.CHI regroup – 15/98 set up a give-and-go to gain the zone, then 15 gets into the middle and generates a decent shot under defensive pressure pic.twitter.com/S6P1SEsYcf
